More than a whisper

God has been so brutally honest with me lately. He’s always truthful, but has been in my face about something in particular. Maybe this is making me look bad, because you always hear how the ones that are so close to God only need to hear His whisper, but apparently, I’ve been needing more than just that.

I’m fine about it. Actually, I’m reminded that He disciplines those He loves. That word, “discipline” can have so much negativity attached to it, depending upon our own personal lives and how we were raised. But, I have to say, that our Heavenly Father always has our best interest at heart…He really does, and is PURE in His discipline. Imagine that!

So, here it is. Hopefully I’m not throwing my pearl out there…He’s been showing me how my unhealed wounds are effecting my being able to fully help those I love or those I WANT to love. I won’t get too specific here, but I think you can see where I’m going. IF we don’t allow God to come and enter into our areas of pain and rejection then what we do comes out of a broken place; one that is not whole and complete, therefore, is not able to do the full work that can be done if we were to open the door to Him in these areas and allow Him to heal them.

We all need inner healing, and frankly, NOTHING and NO ONE, BUT GOD, can truly do the miracle work that we need done in our hearts and make us whole. Self-help books can only take you so far…and the 1, 2, 3s and every other recipe out there (yes, books even written by Christians :) will never bring the satisfaction that God’s personal word can bring to us.

So, I’m reminded of this once again…to allow God to speak to me, be receptive about it and listen…because His Word and His Presence ultimately brings pleasure to my soul.
