I once heard Psalm 46:10 said this way: “Be still (cease striving) and know that I am God”.

I loved that when I heard it and it has stuck with me ever since.

I’m not sure about you, but I am one that is constantly striving…striving to be better, to do better and so forth. However, I have realized as of late, that I must learn what it means to rest in God’s sovereignty and stop all the striving because it was making me go mad!

Obviously, it’s a process…but I think that as follower of Jesus, we need to remember that our identity is not found in anything other than in the Person of Jesus Christ.

Just the thought of that brings peace to my soul. I am almost immediately put to rest.

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t work things out in our lives or quench the innate desire to continue to grow…I’m just saying, that sometimes we need to just stop everything, lay at the feet of Jesus and remember that He is truly the purpose and the reason for our living.
